IBG Monforts Oekotec Komet oil presses. What now?

IBG Monforts Oekotec Komet Oil Presses. What Now?

A long-established company is no longer active. We explain what this means for your machine — and why kambas OleoPress is the right place to turn.

For decades, the name IBG Monforts Oekotec was a guarantee of high-quality cold-press machines under the “Komet” brand. Anyone who owns one of these robust machines is now asking an urgent question: Where can I still get reliable spare parts?

A Brand with a Long History

The IBG Monforts Group has a remarkable corporate history. Founded in 1884 by August Monforts in Mönchengladbach, the family business grew into a major industrial group with several divisions — including fluoropolymers, plain bearing technology, roller technology and ultimately the oil press division under the name IBG Monforts Oekotec GmbH & Co. KG.

The oil presses of the Komet brand — from compact countertop units to industrial high-performance systems such as the K 240 — enjoyed an outstanding reputation worldwide. Their distinguishing feature: instead of individual screws, pure conveying screws were used, ensuring a gentle cold-pressing process. Customers included oil mills, laboratories, delicatessens and development aid projects around the world.

Why Does IBG Monforts Oekotec No Longer Exist?

The IBG Monforts Group went through a difficult restructuring process in recent years. As early as late 2020, the parent company had to file for insolvency — but was initially able to restructure through an insolvency plan procedure. The oil press subsidiary IBG Monforts Oekotec was still independent at that time and not directly affected.

However, the end eventually came for IBG Monforts Oekotec GmbH & Co. KG as well: In March 2023, preliminary insolvency proceedings were opened over the assets of IBG Monforts Oekotec. The company has not been commercially active since then. No new machines are being produced, spare parts are no longer supplied directly by the manufacturer — and customer service has been discontinued.

What Does This Mean for Owners of a Komet Oil Press?

Many operators of Komet oil presses face a very real problem: their machines have been running reliably for years — but sooner or later the press screw, press cylinder / cage or nozzle will wear out. That is precisely when the question of spare parts becomes a matter of survival for the operation.

“My machine has been running for 15 years. But now I need a new screw — and the manufacturer simply no longer exists.”

We regularly hear this from customers across Germany, Austria and around the world. The good news: these machines have not lost their value. They are mechanically robust and can continue to operate for many more years with the right parts.

Do You Need to Switch to a New Machine?

Not necessarily. If your Komet oil press is still in good mechanical condition and only needs wear parts, a repair is almost always worthwhile. These machines are robust and designed for many more years of operation.

However, if you do need a new oil press or a new system, our Oleo P brand offers modern oil presses that stand in direct continuity with the proven cold-press technology — available in sizes P 8, P 20 and P 40, for micro-operations through to industrial production. And the best part: the spare parts are identical and therefore compatible with the spare parts for IBG Monforts Oekotec oil presses. This means you can use your existing IBG Monforts Oekotec Komet spare parts in our machines.

Our recommendation
Let us work out together whether repairing your existing Komet machine makes economic sense — or whether a new Oleo P oil press would be the better investment. We advise you honestly and without any sales pressure.
